Career
2001 Won 125cc European championship. Competed in his first World Championship race at Mugello, in which he retired. 2002 First full season in 125cc World Championship with Team Scot Honda. Finished 16th in final standings. Best results were two 9th places in Le Mans and Donington. 2003 Continued with Team Scot. Two 2nd places (Welkom, Donington) and two 3rd placed (Le Mans, Motegi) helped him to get 5th in final standings. 2004 Continued with Team Scot. Won five races (Welkom, Le Mans, Donington, Motegi, Phillip Island), finished 2nd five times and 3rd once. Dovizioso won the championship with 293 points. 2005 Moved to 250cc, still with Team Scot. Season included two 2nd places and three 3rd places and 3rd place in overall standings. Dovizioso won also Rookie of the Year award. 2006 Second season in the 250cc class with the same team, now renamed as Humangest Racing. Won two races (Barcelona, Estoril) and finished on the podium 11 times. Fought for the championship until final race of the season, but had to settle for 2nd place behind Jorge Lorenzo.
