Encyclopedia > Andrew Haug

Andrew Haug is a radio announcer and heavy metal musician from Australia.

Haug is most notable for as the presenter of the heavy metal music program Full Metal Racket (formerly 3 Hours Of Power) on Australian alternative music radio station Triple J, which he has hosted since 2001. He started his radio career on Melbourne community radio station 3RRR on their heavy metal music program The Hard Report.

Besides his radio career, Andrew presently plays drums with Metalcore/Death metal outfit Contrive which also features his identical twin brother Paul Haug on lead vocals/guitar. Arguably, Andrew is presently one of the most prominent figures on Australia's largely underground heavy metal scene.

In 2002, Haug was convinced by notorious Australian media prankster/comedian John Safran (who is a long-time friend of his and former colleague at 3RRR) to appear on his SBS television series John Safran's Music Jamboree. His infamous appearance involved a christian psychic who monitored him during a radio broadcast and at a Contrive live gig, claiming she could see 'dark spirits' who were supposedly attracted to him due to his interest in heavy metal music. Also television related, Andrew has also had the honour of guest programming the ABC's music video show Rage.
