Andrew Oliver (1706-1774) was the man that enforced the stamp act in the colonies however was forced to resign after repeated violence from the colonists

OLIVER, Andrew, lieutenant-governor of Massachusetts, born in Boston, Massachusetts, 28 March, 1706; died there, 3 March, 1774.
Oliver was the only judge that refused, in March, 1774, to accept the pay that had been voted by the legislature in lieu of a fixed salary of £400 from the crown.
Oliver was a man of varied erudition, familiar with French and German, as well as the classical languages.
