Andrew Ian Henry Russell, 15th Duke of Bedford (b. 30 March1962) succeeded to the title in 2003.
Russell was educated at Harrow and Harvard, where he received his B.A. He was known as Baron Howland until his grandfather's death in 2002, when he adopted the courtesy title of Marquess of Tavistock, previously held by his father, Robin Russell, 14th Duke of Bedford. He succeeded to the Dukedom of Bedford the following year after his father suffered a fatal stroke. He is married to the former Louise Crammond, with whom he has a daughter, Alexandra.
His son, Francis Russell, 2d earl of Bedford, 1527?1585, was an influential privy councilor under Elizabeth I and president of the council of Wales.
Francis Russell, 4th earl of Bedford, 15931641, was the most important opponent of Charles I in the House of Lords and was the brightest hope for reconciliation between king and Parliament when he suddenly died in 1641.
Francis Russell, 5th duke of Bedford, 17651802, was a follower of Charles James Fox and one of the friends of the prince of Wales (later George IV).
