Middlesbrough Career

A graduate of Middlesbrough's well reputed youth academy; Taylor rose to prominence for his boyhood club after being recalled from a loan spell at Bradford City. During the 2005-2006 season, Boro were in the FA Cup Semi-Final and the Uefa Cup Final. With only Franck Queudrue able to play at left-back, Steve McClaren brought Taylor back from Bradford, where he had impressed on loan.


Playing in several Premiership matches and the FA Cup Semi-Final to save Queudrue for the Uefa Cup tie with Sevilla. Linking up with fellow Boro graduate Stewart Downing, the homegrown duo combined well down the left flank using clever overlapping runs.


His form was to such an impressive degree, he was unlucky to miss out on a starting place against Sevilla.


Franck Queudrue departed Middlesbrough for the capital by joining Fulham and despite the signing of Julio Arca, Taylor cemented his place in the first team. Throughout the 2006-2007 season; Taylor was an ever present figure in the team.


International Career

Taylor was part of England's Under-19 Championship team in 2005, in which they finished runners-up to France. He was also selected for the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship.
