Andujar Cedeno, a former shortstop for the Houston Astros, died on Oct. 28, 2000, when the Mercedes he was driving collided with a truck in the Dominican Republic.
Cedeno had joined the Nashau Pride of the Atlantic League the previous season but was injured and did not play.

Former Astros shortstop Andujar Cedeno was killed early Saturday in La Romana, Dominican Republic, when the Mercedes Benz he was driving collided with a truck.
Cedeno, who was buried Sunday, played for the Astros from 1990-94, when he was traded to the Padres in a deal that included Ken Caminiti, Steve Finley and Derek Bell.
Cedeno, 31, was killed last weekend, team spokesman Ken Cail said.
