His first major band was with Peter Frampton in The Herd (UK band) and continued playing bass for him in the seventies. He started playing Keyboards for Status Quo in 1973 as a session musician, appearing on the Hello! album of that year. He is also associated with the Band Judas Jump but joined Status Quo as a full member in 1982.
