Personal life

After the death of his father when he was five, Andy was raised by his mother, a nurse.[1]


Andy attended University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Milwaukee, Wisconsin double majoring in anthropology and history.[2] He plans to finish both degrees whenever his touring and recording schedule permits. Hurley has what some would describe as anarcho-primitivist views, and believes that someday civilization will collapse. When confronted about this in the February 2007 issue of Alternative Press, he claimed that his career contradicted his beliefs, but at the same time, he had to make a living. Andrew John Hurley (born May 31, 1980 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is most notably the drummer of the Chicago-based alternative rock band Fall Out Boy.
Hurley joined Fall Out Boy in 2003 after their debut Album Evening Out With Your Girlfriend.
Hurley played drums in the Chicago metalcore band Racetraitor's Burn the Idol of the White Messiah, 1998 on Uprising Records and Make Them Talk, 1999 on Trustkill Records, Milwaukee's Global Scam, Kill the Monkey Friends and in 1999 played drums on Vegan Reich's final EP.
