Encyclopedia > Andy Rantzen

Andrew Rantzen is a Sydney-based lo_fi electronic recording artist and writer. Trained as a psychologist, he has been lecturer and tutor at the University of Sydney. He is most well_known as part of the duo Itch-E and Scratch-E along with Paul Mac (Boo Boo & Mace is another alias for the same duo). He has produced remixes for Severed Heads, INXS and The Wiggles, and has done soundtrack work for the film Sample People. He also records with the Pelican Daughters. In 2001 he released his first solo LP, The Blue Hour.

The band consists of Paul Bambury and Pam Thompson with contributions from Andy Rantzen of Pelican Daughters fame.
This included collaborations with Andy Rantzens techno band Itch-e and Scratch-e and releases and on a number of compilations.
He was in Australia recently and I had a phone conversation with him, Andy Rantzen went to one of Kim's concerts.

Andy Rantzen: The ex-girlfriend of our drummer Bryce Cannon was a friend of his and happened to play him a cassette of ours while she was in California.
Andy: It went through a blissful phase with the English post-ecstasy comedown phase, and for a while it was very popular.
