"Aneurysm" is a song written by Nirvana's frontman Kurt Cobain. It was inspired by Cobain's breakup with his girlfriend at the time of its writing, Tobi Vail, although some Nirvana fans think that it is about Cobain's relationship with the drug heroin. A 2000 poll from BBC Radio 1 saw it voted as the third best Nirvana song, behind Smells Like Teen Spirit and Heart-Shaped Box. File links The following pages link to this file: Aneurysm (song) ... Aneurysm Guide (1148 words)
Aneurysms most commonly occur in the arteries at the base of the brain (the circle of Willis) and in the aorta (the main artery coming out of the heart) - this is an aortic aneurysm.
A true aneurysm involves an outpouching of all three layers of a blood vessel: the intima, the media, and the adventitia.
For aortic aneurysms or aneurysms that happen in the vessels that supply blood to the arms, legs, and head (the peripheral vessels), surgery involves replacing the weakened section of the vessel with an artificial tube, called a graft.
aneurysm: Definition and Much More from Answers.com (3913 words)
An aneurysm may be a congenital defect in the structure of the muscular wall of affected blood vessels (e.g., the intima of an artery), or arise secondary to trauma, atherosclerosis, or high blood pressure.
Depending on the size and location of the aneurysm about to rupture, a patient may suffer a severe headache, deterioration or disturbances of hearing, and disturbances of vision such as double vision, severe nausea and vomiting, and syncopal episodes (periodic fainting or loss of consciousness).
Dilatation of an artery, and therefore weakness of that portion of the arterial wall, may be rarely congenital, or it may be caused by syphilis, hypertension (high blood pressure), arteriosclerosis, bacterial and fungal infections, or penetrating injury as from a bullet or knife.
