Angel Cop is an action anime 6 episode OVA series created and directed by Ichiro Itano in 1994 It has been released in the west by Manga Video


The story initially starts by dealing with terrorism in an alternate world 1990s where Japan is the largest economy in the world. The Communist radical group, the Red May, are trying to bring down Japan's economy and take over the goverment. In response a Goverment agency, the Special security force, is formed with the ability to act outside the law. However, when the Red May suddenly find themselves being wiped out, the Special security force discover that something else is hunting the terrorists...

The female cop shows up, she is OBVIOUSLY a female, but when she takes off her helmet, they have to show it 4 times like it's some big surprise.

In the first episode of this six episode series we meet Raiden a tough SSF agent who is trying to hunt down a Communist terrorist group called the Red May. He is teamed with stoic female cop Angel, but on one of their first missions together Raiden is crippled.
Angel continues hunting down the Red May, and the group's leader is captured by the SSF.
Angel Cop is a mixed bag in the worst sense: the bad stuff can ruin your enjoyment of the good stuff.
