Anil Biswas (July 1914 - May 2003) was a famous music composer whose songs graced Indian films from 1935 to 1965. He was arguably the greatest music director of 20th century. (There was a Bengali politician by the same name. Some information on him is added on this page, too, after next paragraph.) Born in Barisal (now in Bagla Desh) in 1914, he firstmade his name in Kolkata in early 1930s and moved to Mumbai around 1934 where he soon began getting independent assignments as composer. His last film was Chhoti Chhoti Baaten (1965). His filmography can be accessed at www.anilbiswas.com . Anil Biswas passed away in Delhi in May 2003.
