  Results from FactBites:

Anistreplase: a novel thrombolytic agent for acute myocardial infarction -- Marinac et al. 24 (6): 607 -- The Annals ... (248 words)
Anistreplase, a modified congener of streptokinase, is a recently approved thrombolytic agent used in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
Anistreplase has two distinct advantages over both streptokinase and alteplase: (1) it can be administered as a single bolus intravenous injection and (2) it has a longer half-life which may result in decreased reocclusion rates.
Anistreplase therapy is associated with reductions in both short- and long-term mortality and has been shown to preserve left ventricular function.
RxMed: Pharmaceutical Information - EMINASE (3068 words)
Anistreplase is an inactive derivative of a fibrinolytic (thrombolytic) enzyme composed of streptokinase and lys-plasminogen in which the catalytic center of the enzymatic complex is temporarily blocked by a p-anisoyl group.
Anistreplase is a plasminogen activator and, therefore, exerts its fibrinolytic activity by converting plasminogen into its proteolytically active form, plasmin.
Anistreplase was also found to have a favorable risk/benefit profile in elderly patients (>65 years, n=940) who participated in clinical trials.
