Encyclopedia > Anita McNaught

Anita McNaught is a BBC World television presenter.

Whilst she was born in London, and raised in the UK, she is usually considered a New Zealander since moving there in 1985.

From the age of 23 (as a reporter with Television New Zealand) she has worked in news and current affairs. In 1997, following many years as a broadcaster in NZ, she moved to the UK to join the BBC as a reporter and BBC World newsreader.

She has been quoted as referring to TVNZ in the 1990s as "a miserable, spiteful and unpleasant place to work."

In 2004, she began to appear on some one-off TVNZ programmes once again.
