The police swooped down on couples at the AnnaNagar Tower Park on Friday evening, and arrested 10 men, all aged between 20 and 32, for "bringing girlfriends without the knowledge of their parents." They were produced before the fifth metropolitan magistrate, Egmore, who remanded them to 15 days judicial custody.
The women, who were also rounded up as part of the police action in one of the landmarks of the city, were sent home after their families were told about the incident.
