History
Jankel co-created Max Headroom, the first ever cyberpunk movie for television. It generated an explosion of rave reviews as "The first successful collision of rock culture, and video technology" and "Wonderfully weird, superbly strange, insanely inventive, the hippest most imaginative thing on TV today." Jankel then made her move to Hollywood, where she co-directed D.O.A, a thriller, starring Meg Ryan & Dennis Quaid which was praised for its "quirky, quicksilver style", and earned "two thumbs up" from film critics Siskel and Ebert and Super Mario Brothers, a fantasy, starring Bob Hoskins & Dennis Hopper, was hailed as "Hilarious and Exciting - a cross between Indiana Jones, Blade Runner & Star Wars." Jankel created Cucumber Productions, a commercial/film production company based in London where she created ground-breaking music videos and title sequences and won an Emmy Award for the NBC Show "Friday Night Videos." She then went on to partner in Morton/Jankel/Zander (MJZ) which has been named Top Commercials Production Company for two years in a row by Creativity Magazine. MJZ is based in Los Angeles, with offices in NYC and London.
Currently She is currently developing, directing and producing projects through both of her companies. The latest being the hit TV show, Abbey Road, featured on Channel 4, which gives a unique look at famous music stars and how they came to create the music which led to their fame.
