'Annagh United' is a Northern Ireland football club playing in the Irish Second Division . The club, founded in 1963, hails from Portadown and plays its home matches at Tandragee Road, their home since 1983. Indeed when the club opened its new pitch a Northern Irish star player of the time, the great George Best turned out in an Annagh United select side. The club home colours have always been and remain an mixture of red, white and black trim. The club run two teams, the reserve team play in the Mid Ulster Intermediate league. The current manager is ex Bangor F.C. goalkeeper Niall Currie and includes other ex-Irish League players such as Alan Murphy, Michael Crowe and John Douglas as well as some promising young talents. Annagh United have performed consistently in the Irish League Second Division and finished in the top four in the last two years. The last three seasons have also brough some notable cup runs, none less than present having reached the Mid Ulster Cup final against local senior club Newry City F.C. and the Belfast Telegraph Intermediate Cup Semi Final where they will meet Coagh United, ironically the same team Annagh lost out to in the Bob Radcliffe Cup semi-final earlier in the season. Ramor United - Match report (1890 words)
Ramor United (Virginia/Maghera) captured the Cavan senior football championship title for the first time in their brief three year existence when they easily brushed past the challange of West Cavan hopefuls, Woodford Gaels (Templeport/Kildallan) to win a disappointing final by 1-11 to 0-7 at Breffni park last Sunday.
Ramor United came into existence in 1971, but while they had to wait three years for ultimate success it was worth waiting for and the manner of their victory suggests that they are a team still to reach their potential.
The fact that Ramor United had the benefit of playing in last year's final was a tremendous psychological boost to their prospects and was a factor in their favour which eventually helped them to victory.
