Anne Compton is a Canadian poet and critic. She won the Governor General's Award for poetry in English in 2005 for her collection Processional. Processional as well as her first collection Opening the Island also won the Atlantic Poetry Prize. Ann served in a Navy hospital as a social worker with the American Red Cross.
As a result they focused their funding on the problems of the rapid growth of the human population, the depletion of natural resources due to population growth and increasing consumption levels, the accompanying degradation of the environment, and the chaotic status of human rights in much of the world.
