Born in Quorn, South Australia, she is probably most famous for her role as Helen Daniels in the popular Australian soap opera Neighbours. She played this role from the very first episode in 1985 to episode 2,965 in 1997 when she was forced to give up the role due to ill health. However, that role was only one in a career that spanned half a century. Quorn () is a township and railhead in the Flinders Ranges in the north of South Australia, 39 km northeast of Port Augusta. ... Anne made her acting debut on South Australian Radio at the age of 18. A few years later she moved to the UK, hoping to make it as an actress. Back in Australia, Anne was one of the first presenters of Play School, a show that launched the career of many an Aussie soap star. Other programmes in which Haddy appeared include Dynasty (the 1970-71 Australian television series), Prisoner, Punishment, and a lengthy spell as Rosie Andrews in Sons and Daughters. Anne was dogged by ill health throughout most of her adult life. She had a heart attack in 1979, numerous heart bypass operations, stomach cancer, and a hip replacement. She finally and reluctantly quit Neighbours in 1997. In 1999, she died peacefully, with her actor husband, James Condon beside her. She had five children and six grandchildren. The entire Neighbours cast and crew attended her funeral, many of them 'in character'[citation needed]. Rebecca Ritters, who played Helen's great-granddaughter, Hannah, described Anne Haddy as "deep, warm and loving... like a grandmother."[citation needed] A myocardial infarction occurs when an atherosclerotic plaque slowly builds up in the inner lining of a coronary artery and then suddenly ruptures, totally occluding the artery and preventing blood flow downstream. ...
