Annette Strøyberg was born on December 7, 1936 on Funen Island in Denmark. In 1958, at the age of 21, she played in the film Les bijoutiers du clair de lune by Roger Vadim with Gérard Philipe and Jeanne Moreau. During this production, she and Roger Vadim, who had just divorced Brigitte Bardot in December 1957, fell in love and married on June 17, 1958. They had a daughter, Nathalie Vadim, who was born in Denmark and herself became an actress. They divorced in 1960 after the lack of critical success for Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Funen (Danish: Fyn) is the third largest island of Denmark, it has a population of 445,000 people. ... Despite her previous or subsequent existences, Annette Stroyberg, who has died of cancer aged 69, was always known as the sensuous blonde model who replaced Brigitte Bardot as director Roger Vadim's second wife - and whom he tried unsuccessfully to turn into another BB.
Vadim managed to get from Stroyberg a blend of vulnerability and possession, yet, by the time of the film's release, their marriage was at an end: he had moved on to Catherine Deneuve, whom he never married but with whom he had a son; she had gone off to Sacha Distel.
Stroyberg was born on the Danish island of Fyn, the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen, and grew up during the Nazi occupation.
