The Anunnaki are a group of Sumerian mythologicaldeities. Anunnaki means "those who came from heaven to Earth" (Anu = Heaven / Sky, na = to come, Ki = Earth). The Anunnaki were the gods of ancient Sumer, one of the earliest known human civilizations. The head of the Anunnaki council was the Great Anu, the sky god. His throne was inherited by Enlil, resulting in a dispute between Enlil and his cousin Enki regarding who was the rightful leader. Enki was an alchemist and was said to have created mankind.
According to Sitchin, these beings live on a planet called Nibiru, allegedly the 12th planet of our own solar system, while some other channeled material claim that they actually came from the Pleiades. Other theories also claim that they are of reptilian nature and that they fed on human flesh. Some of this theory is based on the idea that we have not found a "missing link", on the Sumerians' knowledge of the solar system, and on the Sumerians' crediting their knowledge and crafts directly to the gods (the concept of me).
The Anunnaki (also transcribed as: Anunnaku, Ananaki is ancient Sumerian word for Extra Terrestrials ET - ‘those who came from Heaven to Earth’) are a group of Sumerian and Akkadian deities related to, and in some cases overlapping with, the Annuna (the 'Fifty Great Gods') and the Igigi (minor gods).
In 2004 the ancient astronaut idea was presented in a seven issue storyline of the Silver Surfer character by Marvel Comics.
Initially presented as aliens who gave humanity consciousness, it is implied in the last issue of the story that the Annunaki were nothing more than gods in stories told by the Sumerians.
The Annunaki giants left behind to mine for Gold built astronomical devices to help their progeny know when the home planet would be coming back to collect the Gold.
The Annunaki were given blows in the past, too, to reduce their influence on Earth.
Interactions between humans and these hominoids were allowed to proceed without interference, but increasing slavery of humans by these giant hominoids was tripping the balance so that humans were less and less free to choose their orientation based on their true feelings and increasingly influenced by feelings of helplessness.
