ANTHONY OCANA, composer and guitarist, was born in the Dominican Republic in 1980 and was born a musician. Develops a musical style both in composition and in performing hard to define. He composes mostly for guitar and percussion and also for symphony orchestra, trios, among other formats. His compositions range from neoclassic, folk, contemporary and avan garde. He is also known as a composer of songs and music for documentary films. He has opened major concerts for such musicians as Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Egberto Gismonti among many others. He has been awarded important composition prizes such as the "Francisco Tarrega" in Spain and "Casa de Teatro" in the Dominican Republic. His music has been presented in the United States in national television and plays in New York. He has performed in the most important theaters in the Dominican Republic and in Madrid It has been said that his music/compositions explode in a great variety of colors and rhythms of the folklore of the Caribbean embraced with classical notes, a universal music with clear and authentic traces of an unique form of composition.
ANTHONYOCANA´s compositions embraces the listener with magical caribbean rythms that at the same time are sensual with a touch of both classical music and some contemporary jazz.
