Anton Burg (October 18, 1904 - November, 2003) was the father of the University of Southern California chemistry department and a expert on boron. Burg joined USC in 1939 as an assistant professor. He built up USC's chemistry department, making it one of the United States' best by the 1950s. One of his students Herbert C. Brown won a Nobel Prize for his work following up on Burg's research.
