Caught up in the thrill of the moment, Hermione and the two boys overlooked the fact that Dolohov had merely been Silenced, and not disabled. Just as Hermione was congratulating Harry, he struck, slashing his wand furiously. A lethal spell in the form of a jet of purple light and flames passed across Hermione's chest. Caught off-guard, the young witch was unable to defend herself, and fell to the ground, lifeless. Harry and Neville immediately panicked at the sight of their friend falling, and Dolohov acted, kicking Neville aside, breaking both his nose and his father's old wand. Harry was left to face one of the most dangerous Death Eaters alone--and his fear for Hermione caused his will to fight to all but vanish. Dolohov was unable to speak, but he only needed a few gestures to show that if Harry did not give him the prophecy, he would send him to join Hermione. Harry refused, and very nearly died--it was only the timely arrival of the confused and baby-headed Death Eater Avery that spared him. Avery blundered in, and Dolohov looked for a brief moment at the extraordinary apparition. Harry seized the chance, and immediately performed the Full Body-Bind on Dolohov as well. He then turned to Hermione, and was relieved to hear Neville announce that she was still alive--if completely unconscious. It would later be revealed that the fact that Dolohov could not utter the incantation aloud had been all that had saved her. But Dolohov was not finished. He was quickly freed from the Body-Bind, and joined the Death Eaters surrounding Harry Potter. But he was soon locked in combat once more, this time with the legendary Auror Alastor Moody. But the old wizard was no longer who he was before, and Dolohov overwhelmed him, sending him to the floor before turning on Harry. He performed the same curse that struck down Hermione, but Harry managed to block it. Dolohov then tried to Summon the prophecy, but Sirius Black came to his godson's rescue, knocking Dolohov aside. The two began to duel, but as Dolohov prepared to use the curse for a third time, Harry froze him once more. This time, he did not return--he was most likely sent back to Azkaban, where he will probably find it much more difficult to escape again.
