He is originally from Mexico City but he moved to Boston, Massachusetts to study at Berklee College of Music in 1993.
After he graduated he went on to perform with Pat Metheny, Michael Brecker, Paquito D'Rivera, John Patitucci, Danilo Perez, David Sanchez, Chris Potter (jazz saxophonist), Avishai Cohen and others.
At the time of this writing, he continues to be one of the brightest stars of the jazz community, dedicating time to both his own projects and those of emerging artists and established veterans alike, helping them to reach their audience as well as realizing their own artistic visions.
While jazz lies at the root of Christian's accomplishments, it is his passion for music in a very broad sense that has made him an esteemed bassist, composer, arranger, educator, and bandleader.
Born in Puerto Rico, Sanchez was steeped in the bomba and plena rhythms of the island along with the Cuban and Brazilian traditions, while the saxophonists Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, John Coltrane and Charlie Parker deeply influenced his playing.
