Jump to: navigation, search

Aornos is a greek word and in free translation means 'unbird'. It is said that aornos was a stone located in the mountain Alexander sieged. Many other Greeks before Alexander tried to obtain it without success such as Hercules and Dionysos. Aristotle had informed Alexander about the existance of the stone and according to some references fetching the stone back to Greece was one of campaign's great goals. The Greeks always found the presence of the pigeons above statues and monuments very irritating and aornos stone was supposed to create electomagnetic fields unbearable to any bird spieces. According to some historic references, the aornos stone finally arrived in Greece and was placed at the Acropolis Rock, the rock on which Parthenon is built, 'the highest point of Attica plains'. Until today not a single bird has approached Parthenon.
