The name Kalamaria was first used in 1083 to denote the area southeast of Thessaloniki, including but not limited to the area of the present-day municipality.
Kalamaria had a population of 14.000 residents as recorded by an inventory in 1947, this has considerably increased, as shown by a census in2002 where Kalamaria had a total of 87.312 residents.
Kalamaria has schools, lyceums, gymnasia, churches, banks, a post office, a sporting field, a cinema, a port, a marina, a bus station, and squares (plateies).
Kalamaria Stadium (269 words)
The stadium is in Kalamaria, a district of the city of Thessaloniki (which has an international airport).
Kalamaria lies south-east from the centre of the city, by the sea.
As a result, Kalamaria Stadium was upgraded both 2002 and 2003.
