Appleby Corner is a community in the Canadian province of Ontario. It is in the town of Markstay-Warren. Its name is thought to originate from the older 'A Plebby Corner', a polemical invective against the inhabitants. Who, in popular opinion at the time, were held to be plebs, because they believed in Darwinism. Time, however, has proved more kind to those poor souls, and the name of the community has been amended, ironically, to Appleby Corner.
