The Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Gulf (Arabic: مجلس التعاون لدول الخليج العربية), formerly named Gulf Cooperation Council (مجلس التعاون الخليجي) is a regional organization involving the six Arab Gulf states with the many economic and social objectives in mind.
Created May 25, 1981, the Council is comprised of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The common term "Persian Gulf" is not used in the name of the organization, as the governments of these Arab countries since 1960s refer to the Persian Gulf as the "Arabian Gulf" (see Dispute over the name of the Persian Gulf).

The Ministerial Council of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held its 88th meeting, on Sunday and Monday 10 and 11 Rajab 1424 H., 7 and 8 September 2003 A.D., in the city of Jeddah and was chaired by Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad Ibn Jasim Ibn Jaber Al-Thani.
The Council reassured that it is important to face the prejudiced and biased foreign media campaign and called for concerted stance and coordination among their media to protect the youth of the Gulf region against the negative impacts of these campaigns.
Meanwhile, members of the Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held a meeting at the Conferences Palace in Jeddah with representatives of the Consultative Commission of the Supreme Council of the GCC on the sidelines of the 88th session.
