Arabia Terra is large upland region in the north of Mars. It is densely cratered and heavily eroded. This battered topography indicates great age, and Arabia Terra is presumed to be one of the oldest terrains on the planet. It covers as much 4500 kilometers squared, centered roughly at 25°N and 5°E, with its eastern and southern regions rising 4 kilometers above the north-west. Alongside its many craters, canyons wind through the Arabia Terra, many emptying into the large Northern lowlands of the planet, which the terra abuts to the north. For the Roman god, see Mars (mythology). ...
ArabiaTerra: Erosion has exposed hundreds of layers of the same thickness and pattern on the floors of craters throughout western ArabiaTerra (first named in 1979).
Terra Meridiani: This general region is one of the more complex on Mars, with a rich array of sedimentary, volcanic, and impact surfaces that span a wide range of martian history.
Margaritifer Terra: To the northwest is the plain of Chryse Terra, in the middle of which lies the Viking 1 landing site.
