Arboga is a Municipality in Västmanland County, in central Sweden. The municipality covers an area of 324.2 km². Of the total population of 13,870, 6,912 are male, and 6,958 are female. The population density of the community is 43 inhabitants per km².


The city of Arboga is known to have existed in the late 1200's and during the medieval period it was one of the most important cities in the kingdom. The first parliament of Sweden (Riksdag) was held in the city in 1435. The city has a population of 11,430 (1996). Today the city is a communication centre since highways E18 and E20 merge here and the Mälar Railroad (Mälarbanan), between Stockholm and Hallsberg runs through the city.
