Fine Arts The Fine Arts Department at Carney is composed of the Art, Home Ec, Drama, Media Arts, Visual Arts, and IT sectors. It is constantly growing, with a new Fine Arts wing expected by 2009.
Music Carney boasts an excellent music program. Recently, the Sr. Concert Band, Jazz Band I, and Sr. Concert Choir traveled to Montreal in order to compete in the Heritage Music Festival. Sr. Concert Band achieved a Silver award, with a score of 92 in one of its pieces. Jazz Band I achieved a Silver award, and Sr. Concert Choir proudly brought home a Gold award.
Athletics Carney has a very strong Athletics Department. Mr. Leonard DeJulius is the head.
Clubs and Committees Archbishop Carney offers a variety of extracurricular activities. Academics are only half of Archbishop Carney, the rest is found in the clubs it offers.
Graduation Committee The Graduation Committee is responsible for planning activities for each year’s graduate class. The committee holds meetings regularly, plan fund raising events, and organize year end graduation events. Each Grade 12 homeroom at Archbishop Carney votes for 5 members to be on this committee. The graduation committee may also organize the official 10th year reunion. The teacher in charge for this committee is Mr. Borzilla.
Student Council (Starliament) "Starliament has the responsibility to represent the interests of the student body of Archbishop Carney. They organize student activities, represents the student body to the community, promote school spirit, liaison with the staff, and promote the philosophy of the school." ~ Starliament Constitution 2001
The Production Crew The Production Crew is responsible for the well being and setup of the school's professional sound, lighting, and video equipment. Such events they work at are the monthly school masses, concerts and talent shows. Teacher sponsors are Mr. Charles Harris and Mr. Bill Kingsland.
