Archer County is a county located in the state of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 8,854. Its county seat is Archer City6. Archer is named for Branch Tanner Archer, a commissioner for the Republic of Texas. (See List of Texas county name etymologies.)
Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,398 km˛ (926 mi˛). 2,356 km˛ (910 mi˛) of it is land and 42 km˛ (16 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 1.74% water.
