Archie the squid is an 8 metre long giant squid taken alive by fishermen after becoming entangled in a fishing net near the Falkland Islands. Although Archie perished soon after capture, the body was put in ice, allowing an unusually high standard of preservation. Although not the largest giant squid ever recorded, Archie's body is certainly the best preserved. Although Archie's eye's are missing, Archie's is otherwise largely intact, including his skin, mantle, and the two long feeding tentacles.
