In the fictional world of Pokémon, Ardan is the Gym Leader of the gym in Sootopolis City in Emerald version. Like Wallace in Ruby/Sapphire versions, Ardan uses water-type Pokémon. In fact, three of his five Pokémon are the exact same (save for level change) as Wallace's original gym battle team. All of Ardan's Pokémon are male (except Luvdisc, since the species is usually female). To reach Ardan in his gym, you must walk on thin ice to reach an ice slope. If you walk on every piece of thin ice, the slope changes to stairs, leading up to the next area. Beware, for the ice cracks under your feet. If you step on the same place twice, you'll fall through, to a handful of female trainers on the lower level of the gym. Generic
Name in other languages Japanese: アダン (Adan) Name note: the spelling "Ardan" was spread by web site owner Meowth346. This is only one (arguably) possible spelling for this character's Japanese name. When the English version of Pokémon Emerald comes out, his name should be changed from "Ardan" to his English name, and this page should be moved.

Rematch team four: Team Strategy Most of Ardan's team uses a simple plan: increase the damage of water-type moves with Rain Dance, try to avoid being hit by confusing your Pokémon with Confuse Ray and Water Pulse, try to put your Pokémon to sleep with Hypnosis, use Perish Song in hope to force a switch, and try for one-hit knock outs with Fissure, Guillotine, and Sheer Cold. Ardan's Kingdra and later Crawdaunt use Double Team, raising their evasion so they're harder to hit, then Rest to go to sleep recover full HP and recover any status ailment, and hold a Chesto Berry which wakes them from their sleep without having to wait a few turns for the sleep to wear off. Crawdaunt also uses Taunt to ensure your Pokémon can only use damage-dealing moves for two turns (which are most likely to miss after Double Team has been used up to its limit of six times), and Kingdra will use Water Pulse to confuse your Pokémon into not being able to attack half the time, possibly early on in the battle. Oh, and if the weather is rainy from Rain Dance, Kingdra's Swift Swim ability doubles its speed.
Effort Points Ardan's final Emerald rebattle team provides a combined effort points: | Stat | Value | | Hit Points | 7 | | Attack | 3 | | Defense | 0 | | Speed | 0 | | Special Attack | 1 | | Special Defense | 4 |
