History

The station was originally opened by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway by July 1926, shortly before the merging of Nobel Industries with three other chemical companies to created Imperial Chemical Industries. The station was originally called Ardeer Works Platform but at some point the 'Works' title was dropped. The station closed to trains on 3 October 1966. The station was a long, single platform to accommodate the thousands of personnel that once worked at the factory. The London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS1) was a British railway company. ... Today the platform still exists although heavily overgrown and in disrepair.
