Ardrishaig (pronounced "ar-drishig") is a lochside village at the southern (eastern) entrance to the Crinan Canal in west Scotland, in Argyll.
In the 1970s, the village was severely disfigured when the old row of houses and shops on the lochside of the main street were demolished to make way for a car park. This unfortunately has irreversibly changed the feel of this once pretty village. Most trading takes place now in its neighbouring town Lochgilphead.
John Smith, former Labour MP, was from Ardrishaig.
Ardrishaig stands at the southern end of the Crinan Canal, the gateway to the Western Isles.
Waiting to be explored are Bronze Age burial cairns, standing stones and the remains of old forts, including Dunadd Hill, where the ancient Kings of Scotland were crowned.
Route 2: From the Cowl Peninsular ferry from Portavadie to Tarbet A38 north for Lochgilphead.
