The new 224areacode may be assigned to customers who request new local, cellular and paging, and alarm services.
Overlay areacodes for the Chicago metropolitan and suburban areas encompassing the 708, 630, 312 and 773 areacodes have been ordered by the Illinois Commerce Commission.
Since the ICC has extended the number pooling trial from the 847 areacode to the other Chicago areacodes, the start dates of the new overlays are still to be determined.
