The new 858areacode encompasses the northern portion of the three-way split and includes Rancho Sante Fe, Solano Beach, Del Mar, La Jolla, Poway and the northern portion of the City of San Diego.
A "permissive dialing" period for 858, beginning June 12, will enable callers from outside the area to use either the 619 or 858areacode when completing a call to customers in the new 858 calling area.
