Sports Notable athletes in Argo history include Ted Kluszewksi, "Big Klu", a slugger who played for the Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals in the 1950s. Sheldon Mallory also played briefly for the Oakland Athletics in the mid-1970s. David Brady, current mayor of Bedford Park, was notable for posting a 4:12 mile during his tenure at Argo High. The 1997 men's varsity basketball team posted a 23-3 regular season record enroute to a defeat in the Regional championships. A notable player from that roster includes Kyle Hill, who went to play for Eastern Illinois University and placed in the top 5 in NCAA Division I scoring average his junior and senior years. Hill was drafted by the Houston Rockets in the second round of the NBA draft following his senior year at EIU, but never participated in an NBA contest. Kyle Hill is a professional basketball player who was picked by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2001 NBA Draft, placing 44th overall. ...
Argo has, however, had great success on both the cross country field as well as wrestling mat. The boy's XC team was winners of 7 of 10 SICA championships during the 1990s and 2000s as the Argo wrestling team boasted 7 of ten championships in the same time span. Both teams held the titles for 7 consecutive years. Argo's Poms, after placing second and third in numerous state tournaments, took home the gold in 2008 winning both kick and pom.
