Ariel Rubenstein (born April 13, 1951) is an economist who works in game theory. He was educated at The Hebrew University, 1972-1979, in both mathematics and economics. He is currently (2004) a professor of economics with the School of Economics at Tel Aviv University.


His parents, Yehuda Rubinstein (father) and Lea Fainsod (mother) and all his relatives died in 1941-1944 in Poland under Nazi occuption.


In 1982, he published "Perfect equilibrium in a bargaining model", Econometrica 50/1. 99-109, an important contribution to the theory of bargaining. In fact, it is a generalization of the bargaining equilibrium solution that John Forbes Nash developed in 1950.
