Nadat er eindelijk geld was voor het opzetten van een nieuw stadion en ook de ligging was gevonden kwam er op 22 november 1996 een akkoord met de gemeente van Enschede.
Het nieuwe Arke Stadion, waar bij elke wedstrijd zo'n 13.500 toeschouwers in kunnen wordt zo gebouwd dat men in de toekomst een tweede ring kan bouwen, wat kan leiden tot een capaciteit van maarliefst ongeveer 27.000 plaatsen.
Het is nu eindelijk zover: in 2008 moet het stadion uitgebouwd zijn van zo'n 13.500 plaatsen naar maarliefst 27.000 plaatsen.
