Army of Me was released in 1995 and was the first single to be taken from the album Post. The song became a Modern Rock hit peaking on the rock charts at #2 in the United States. The single peaked at #10 in the UK. The song was later used on the charity project Army of Me-Xes in late 2004. The song also appeared on the soundtrack of "Tank Girl".
All in all the Roman army consisted of 18 centuries of equites, 82 centuries of the first class (of which 2 centuries were engineers), 20 centuries each of the second, third and fourth classes and 32 centuries of the fifth class (of which 2 centuries were trumpeters).
