Encyclopedia > Arnulf III of Flanders

Arnulf III (about 1055 - February 22, 1071, in battle), was Count of Flanders and Count of Hainaut, as Arnulf I from 1071 to his death. He succeeded his father Baldwin VI in both counties. With his untimely death in battle in Saint-Omer, Flanders and Hainaut were separated again.

Baldwin VI, Count of Flanders - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (215 words)
Baldwin VI of Flanders (1030 – July 17, 1070) was briefly Count of Flanders, from 1067 to 1070.
He was the eldest son of Baldwin V of Flanders and Adela Capet, a daughter of king Robert II of France.
The young Arnulf III was killed the next year at the Battle of Cassel and Baldwin's younger son eventually became Baldwin II of Hainaut.
