Art Lee, a lawyer, was elected to the Parliament of Canada as a federal Liberal to represent the electoral district of Vancouver East in 1974. He lost the subsequent election in 1979 and again in 1980. From 1984 to 1987, he served as the leader of the provincial Liberals in British Columbia.
