Art on the Move is an annual summer arts program held in Detroit, Michigan. As of 2005, the program counted 20 years of programming. The organization promotes cultural values by sponsoring art installations during the summer months. These temporary installations are created by resident artists, who in turn mentor young artists as the public works are executed and erected. Funding for Art on the Move has come from architectural firms in Southwestern Michigan, the City of Detroit and Detroit's Empowerment Zone Development Corporation. According to an interview with staffer Carol Beach, the National Endowment for the Arts had granted financial support to Art on the Move for 2005.
