Artcontext is a collaborative net art venue headed up by American artist Andy Deck. A typical work involves anonymous visitors to the site in the creation of images which are then immediately incorporated into the site for others to see. Deck's work examines the division of creativity between artist, code, and the public. Several of his works, such as Glyphiti (2001—) and OpenStudio (1999) offer time-lapse visualizations as a way of perceiving the contributions made by the public, good and bad. Other prominent themes include militarism, intellectual property, expressive freedom, social software, anti-corporate politics, and collaboration.
