Its administrative center is Artemivsk, but the city itself is not located within the raion. Its population is 53,866 and its area is 1,687 square kilometres. Settlements

  • Siversk or Seversk (Ukrainian: Сіверськ; Russian: Северск; since 1913-1793 Yama) is a city located on 48°87′N 38°11′E with a population of 14,393. There are some industrial factories located within the raion, namly the brick factory Stroydetal. Siversk is a former sovhoz by the name of Yamskyy. It was founded in 1913 and received city status in 1961.
  • Luhanske (Ukrainian: Луганське; since 1701-1922 Pyatnadtsatya Rota) is a selyshche miskoho typu (town) with a population of 2,604. Since 1772 the town is populated with Moldovans and Romanians. The town is a former kolhoz by the name of Kalinina. The town is comprised of the Krasniy Pakhar', Krinichnoe, Lozovoe, Mironovka, Rassadki, Roty, and Skelevoe settlements.
