There are two main climbing routes: the first one runs along the North ridge, from Santa Cruz ravine, and the second crosses the SouthEast face starting in Parón lagoon. This latter demands good ice climbing technique, as it is at least 50 degrees steep for well over 1200 vertical metres.
The summit ridges of Artesonraju are well known because of their fragility and special care must be taken: there is an unusually high chance of avalanches at the start of the climbing season.
