Like his predecessor Rodolphe William Seeldrayers, Arthur Drewry was also only in office for a short time, while Sir Stanley Rous held the position for a good number of years and went down in history as the "Grand Old Man" of football.
It was during this period that Arthur Drewry came to office as the fifth President of FIFA, being elected by the delegates at the FIFA Congress in Lisbon on 9 June, 1955.
Arthur Drewry was born in 1891 and became president of the English Football League as well as of the Association, and succeeded Rodolphe William Seeldrayers (Belgium) as FIFA President on 7 June 1956 in Lisbon.
